911 abuse

In regards to the Auburn Reporter’s article on the use of fireworks in city limits (June 24), the mayor stated that he wanted people to be calling 911 to report anyone using fireworks. Now, if I’m not mistaken, we are told time and time again that 911 is for emergencies only.
To me, reporting the use of fireworks is not an emergency unless someone has been injured by them or a fire has been started by them. Wouldn’t it have been better if the City had provided a phone number that people could call to report the use of fireworks?
Just a thought.
