Auburn Police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Sept. 13 and 19:
Sept. 13
Theft: 11 a.m., 3300 block of Scenic Drive Southeast. Suspects unknown pitched a rock through the back window of a vehicle and stole a tote bag that had been on the rear seat.
Theft: 12 p.m., 1 16th NE. Somebody stole a credit number from a hotel guest, and somebody in Florida racked up fraudulent charges using said number.
Theft: 2:36 p.m., 2500 block of C Street Southwest. A man tried to steal an undisclosed quantity of copper wire.
Sept. 16
Theft: Overnight, 401 8th St. SW. Somebody stole a handgun from a man’s truck.
Animal problem: 1 p.m., 300 block of 23rd Street Southeast. The owner of a pitbull that had been wandering paw loose and unrestrained brought the dog indoors, but for the incident and for failing to license the creature, the fellow earned himself a citation from Auburn’s animal control officer.
Sept. 17
Hit and run: 5:45 a.m., 1300 block of Harvey Road Northeast. One of the drivers involved in a two-car collision fled the scene, but police caught up with and arrested him for hit and run.
Sept. 19
Burglary: 7:30 a.m., 711 E. Main St. Intent on burglary, a person or persons unknown tried to slither into Auburn High School through an exterior window.
