‘Dandy’ solution for struggling Auburn

I just read the article concerning the city’s search for an official flower, and I have come up with what I believe is a perfect solution.
Since the city is obviously struggling financially, there is no doubt in my mind that in order to fund this project, our mayor intends on invoking his favorite policy: “other people’s money.” I have heard this phrase from the mayor with my own ears.
The citizens of Auburn are the “other people” to which he refers. Instead of spending our hard-earned money on this search, why not adopt a flower that is already abundant in Auburn? The dandelion.
The mayor and other city officials have been doing a wonderful job over the last several years growing this flower. It can be found in vacant downtown lots, in the city planters and flower beds and even in the cracks and potholes in our streets.
When Auburn has its first dandelion festival and parade, it truly will be “More Than You Imagined.”
