Poetry at the Rainbow Café welcomes Woon, Kabakov

Poetry at the Rainbow Café presents the works of Koon Woon and Joel Kabakov on Monday, Jan. 4.
The program is from 7 to 9 p.m. at the café, 112 E. Main St.
Coffee and conversation follow readings. It is an open mic opportunity. The public is invited.
About the poets
Woon was born in a small village in China and immigrated to the U.S. in 1960 to Aberdeen, where he went to high school. He came to Seattle to study mathematics at the University of Washington. He began writing poetry at age 30 and enrolled in Nelson Bentley’s poetry workshop. Woon’s poems have been widely published in journals and anthologies.
Kabakov, a Harvard-trained musical composer, is chair of the humanities at Columbia Gorge Community College in The Dalles, Ore. He did live in Seattle until he went to Oregon to teach. Kabakov is also vice president of Chrysanthemum Literary Society. Available Light Out from Goldfish Press is Joel Kabakov’s first full length collection of poetry.
