Ruth E. Hartmann

05/21/1933 – 01/21/2016

Ruth E. Hartmann passed away January 21, 2016 in Saint Joseph Hospital in Tacoma.

Ruth was born in Hagen, Germany to Emil and Johanna Wegerhoff, where she lived until 1954. After her marriage to Dietrich Hartmann the two immigrated to Toronto Canada where three of their children, Daniela, Anja and Carey were born.

In 1968 they made Auburn their home and lived there continuously except for a three year absence in the late sixties/early seventies. On her fortieth birthday in 1973 her son Jason was born in Auburn.

Ruth was known for her big heart. She volunteered for ‘Cancer Lifeline’ as well as ‘Travelers Aid’ at Seatac airport, a volunteering position she held for seventeen years.

Cooking was her passion, she also loved to travel, spending winters in the California desert and was a lover of animals.

Ruth is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Dietrich, four children, Daniela Falco, Anja Kraemer (Larry), Carey (Susan) and Jason (Terra) as well as seven grandchildren, Michelle, Kelsy, Johanna, Christian, Courtney, Tommy and River. She is greatly missed by her family as well as many of her friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Humane Society of Seattle/King County.

A memorial service for Ruth will take place in St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sumner Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
