Auburn Mountainview’s Kayla Porter and Auburn Riverside’s Luba Migdal qualified for this weekend’s state gymnastics showdown with solid performances at the West Central District meet at Auburn Mountainview High School on Saturday.

Porter finished second in the all-around standings to Tahoma’s Tenley Mjelde, while Migdal took third. Porter delivered scores of 9.0 on the vault, 9.2 on the bars, 9.050 on the beam and 9.325 in the floor exercise for a 36.575 total, just behind Mjelde’s 36.625.

Migdal posted scores of 8.35o on the vault, 8.6 on the bars, 9.0 on the beam and 9.050 in the floor exercise for a total score of 35.000.

In other top individual state-qualifying efforts, Auburn’s Ali Tate was solid in the floor (9.3) and on the bars (8.850). Auburn Riverside’s Kristina Kovalchuk (8.4) and Madi Kelly (8.350) shone on the vault.

The state championships are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
