An Auburn woman was displaced early Sunday morning when her double-wide mobile home caught fire in the 28000 block of 55 Avenue South.
Firefighters from Puget Sound Fire and South King Fire and Rescue responded to the call at 6 a.m. and found the home fully engulfed in flames. The resident was able to get out safely on her own.
There are no fire hydrants in the area of the home, which hampered firefighters’ ability to get water on the flames. Fire engines had to use their 500 gallons of water at the scene and then leave to refill at the closest hydrant, approximately one half mile away.
A water tender with more than 2,000 gallons was brought to the scene from Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety to assist.
Although the home is a total loss, a second home and a barn next door were saved.
A King County Fire Investigator will determine the cause once it is safe to do so.
King County Fire District 20’s rehab unit, investigators from Valley Regional Fire Authority, and King County Medic One also responded to this incident.
