Renewal

After a hurry, worry day
he is content to sway softly
in hazy twilight a precious
sleepyhead at rest on his chest.
Bright eyes close against twinkly
stars. A little fist tightly folds around
daddy’s big finger. Ten perfect toes,
often counted, cuddle under
a grandma-knitted blanket.
In this hour life renews its spiritual
power. In the womb of his wife his
fatherhood was honored. Each time
their baby snuggles against his chest
love for the mother grows stronger.
