AuburnFest: community summer festival returns to the park

Weekend includes a parade, entertainment, kids activities and car show

AuburnFest – a fun, family-friendly summer festival celebrating Auburn and its community – returns Saturday, Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., to Les Gove Park, 910 Ninth St. SE.

The festival offers two entertainment stages; a beer garden; food vendors; craft, specialty, community and nonprofit vendors; a car show; a literary showcase and small press fair; a downtown parade; a Friday night fun run and walk, as well as several free activities including Bocce; face painting; hands-on art activities; an indoor playground; the Discovery Playground; and a spray playground.

Wally & The Beavs (’50s and ’60s rock ’n roll); Wings N Things (The Music Of Paul McCartney); The Coats (Pacific Northwest’s premiere a cappella band); and Randy Hansen (Tribute to Jimi Hendrix) will perform on the Main Stage. The Community Stage will feature: Steve Fisher The Cerebral Tone (Singer Song Writer); Children’s Dance Theater and other acts.

The festival – presented by the City of Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation– is sponsored in part by 98.9 The Bull, Coordinated Care, and Multicare Health System – Center for Healthy Living.

There is no admission, with many free activities on-site.

A $10 wristband may be purchased at the festival for access to unlimited rides on the train; ponies; 11 inflatables; super slide; ballistic swing; mini golf; climbing wall and makerspace. Purchase wristbands before noon Aug. 10 and use coupon code SUMMER18 for a discounted price of $5 per wristband. A fun run staged in conjunction with the Summer Sounds & Cinema concert and outdoor movie at Les Gove Park. Register online or download the entry form.

• Saturday, Aug. 11 | AuburnFest | 11 a.m.-7 p.m. | Les Gove Park

A downtown parade kicks off the day at 11 a.m. The parade will feature a variety of marching bands, drill teams, dancers and one-of-a-kind cars. The parade honors and celebrates the beauty, hospitality, friendliness, quality of life and diversity of the greater Auburn community. The parade route travels west along Main Street from E Street Northeast to A Street Northwest.

A fun display for antique, classic, hot rod, street rod, muscle, and unique cars. Awards in 15 categories. Free dash plaques for the first 100 to register.
