Fire blotter: Vehicle crashes into building

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Jan. 5 and Jan. 11:
Jan. 5
Accident: 10:14 a.m. (Pacific). Firefighters responded with Washington State Patrol to a two-vehicle collision on northbound Highway 167, where they treated a woman for a minor knee injury. They remained on scene with state patrol.
Jan. 6
Aid call: 9:45 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a senior citizen who was complaining of dizziness and an irregular heart rate for a possible stroke before a private ambulance motored him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
Jan. 7
Vehicle into building: 5:16 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a vehicle that had collided with a residence arrived to find the driver uninjured and moderate damage to the home that did not compromise its structural integrity. Two families living in the residence were temporarily relocated because of a resulting power outage.
Jan. 8
Fire alarm: 2:15 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a residential fire alarm arrived to find the home’s doors and windows open. Upon contact, the resident explained that she and her daughter had set off the smoke alarm while learning to cook steak for the first time. Firefighters ventilated the home and provided a brief safety lesson on proper cooking techniques.
Jan. 9
Aid call: 8:10 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to a skilled nursing facility upon reports of an unresponsive man. Firefighters evaluated the man, and requested an Advanced Life Support response. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated the man on scene before paramedics transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
Jan. 10
Aid call: 3:28 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a senior citizen who was complaining of eye and wrist pain after a fall, and then a private ambulance transported her to a local hospital for further care.
Jan. 11
Aid call: at 9:40 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a nursing home and treated a senior citizen who was complaining of multiple medical symptoms. A private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
