Auburn Police arrested five suspects during a recent retail theft emphasis at Fred Meyer, 801 Auburn Way N.

Officers from the Special Investigations Unit, General Investigations Unit, Community Response Team, School Resource Officers and the K-9 Unit teamed up on the Aug. 5 crackdown, according to an Aug. 11 Auburn Police Facebook post.

“Our goal was simple, proactively identify and arrest shoplifters who impact our local businesses and contribute to higher costs for everyone in our community,” according to a police statement.

Officers arrested five suspects and booked them into South Correctional Entity (SCORE) for investigation of theft, criminal trespass and drug-related offenses, according to police.

SCORE, in Des Moines, is operated by the cities of Auburn, Burien, Des Moines, Renton, SeaTac and Tukwila for misdemeanors, such as smaller thefts. The King County jail system handles felonies, with jails in Seattle and Kent.
