Support Backus for Auburn mayor

It’s time Auburn promoted a competent, forwarding thinking, dedicated and conscientious woman who has served our city for the past decade to the leader of our city – rather than tossing away her experience and dedication. That person is Nancy Backus.

Following a family tradition, I was honored to be appointed to the Auburn Planning Commission. In that role, I have watched Nancy grow in her role as a councilmember of the Planning and Community Development Committee into a strong and passionate leader. She listens to the citizens, asks the important questions of staff and brings in her financial experience in evaluating a problem or in researching new ideas.

She clearly uses her personal knowledge in making decisions and is not swayed by other influences or individuals. There are times when not everyone agrees with each other, but Nancy presents her views with respect to all, and I think of her as a consensus builder – getting people together on the same page.

Please consider Nancy before you vote in November. Our growing city needs a mayor who has the longevity and experience of knowing the big picture, yet also keeps track of the fine details that are ever so important in running a city government.
