GOING GREEN: Green River Community College’s Continuing Education, in conjunction with the City of Auburn, will present “Going Green Northwest” on Thursday. The community service program will present a variety of resources in how to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprints. The event will offer resources and information through displays, exhibits, presenters and vendors on topics such as recycling, energy conservation, sustainability, natural yard care and composting, household hazardous waste, solar energy and building green. In August 2007, residents from the Lea and West hills voted to become annexed into the City of Auburn. Prior to that action, the Auburn City Council said it would not consider annexing these PAAs (potential annexation areas) unless it could be done so as to prevent adverse financial impact to the city’s current residents.
Now the City Council is raising our rates for water and storm drainage almost 10 percent.
