Students, school board members and district staff celebrate the grand opening of Chinook Elementary School on Oct. 19. Located at 3502 Auburn Way S., the school will serve 650 students in pre-school through fifth grade. Improvements include a playfield, playground, bus loading, student pick-up and drop-off areas, as well as staff and visitor parking. The grand opening celebration marks the third school completed as part of the “Building for Learning” bond that encompasses the building of eight schools in eight years within the Auburn School District. By 2023, six aging schools will be replaced, and two new schools will be built.
