‘Give thanks. Walk.’ raises $20,000 to benefit St. Jude | Briefs

An estimated 350 walkers from the Auburn and greater Seattle area participated in the “Give thanks. Walk.” last Saturday and raised more than $20,000 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Walkers helped raise money by securing sponsors who gave donations to St. Jude, a pediatric cancer research centers.

The Auburn walk was one of 39 events held around the country and helped kick off the sixth annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign.

Sponsors for the Auburn Give thanks. Walk. included the Auburn SuperMall, 94.1 KMPS, Delta Delta Delta, Tau Kappa Epsilon, New York Cupcake, Sam’s Club, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, and Valley Regional Fire Authority.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to all who participated in the first annual “Give thanks. Walk” in Washington state, making it a great success,” said Connie Rogers, chairperson of the benefit walk.

• TOP Food & Drug is giving away more than $100,000 in cash and products during its Holiday Bucks promotion through Dec. 31 at its 18 stores throughout Washington, including two in Auburn (1702 Auburn Way N.) and Lake Tapps (1406 Lake Tapps Parkway E.).

During each of the year’s last five weeks, each TOP Food & Drug will award $50 to the account of 20 TOP Connection members. Also, 110 members at each store will win drawings for turkeys, bread, coffee and other food products.
