For the Reporter

The 17th annual Seattle Golf & Travel Show returns next Friday through Sunday, Feb. 27-March 1 to CenturyLink Field Event Center.

The three-day event features more than 200 exhibitors, travel destinations, manufacturer’s representatives and demonstrators.

Kicking off “golf season,” it is one of the largest consumer golf and travel events on the West Coast with hands-on opportunities to check out the latest golf equipment and meet face-to-face with representatives of top area courses and golf travel destinations.

The show offers value and fun with contests for prizes, free golf, instruction and information, and discounts on golf packages at top golf destinations in the Northwest, Canada, Mexico and the Western U.S.

Speakers

Spokane-based Kathy G-Jensen, PGA, the recipient of the PGA of America’s prestigious 2014 national “Teacher of the Year” award, is set to appear each day of the show to share game improvement tips. Jensen is the first woman in the history of the PGA of America to receive the recognition.

It’s a milestone year for golf in the Pacific Northwest as the U.S. Open comes to Pierce County’s Chamber’s Bay on June 18-21. The show will host daily presentations by the tournament and course representatives, and an appearance by Blaine Newnham, author of “America’s St. Andrews,” offering a behind-the-scenes look at the selection of Chambers Bay as the 2015 U.S. Open site.

Gamble Sands general manager Dave Christianson joins the speaker lineup with a look at one of the most acclaimed new courses in the U.S., located in a dramatic setting overlooking the Columbia River near Brewster.

Show hours are Friday (Feb. 27), noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday (Feb. 28), 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday (March 1), 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is $14 for adults; ages 17 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available for purchase at www.seattlegolfshow.com, or at the door. Discounted adult admission tickets are available for advance purchase at Puetz Golf Superstore retail locations.
