Unlicensed food vendor shut down for selling tamales from ice chest

King County Public Health shut down the Federal Way vendor on Monday, Jan. 25.

An unlicensed food vendor in Federal Way was shut down by a public health inspector Jan. 25 for selling food out of an ice chest.

The unlicensed food vendor, operating at the southeast corner of Military Road South and South Star Lake Road, was closed by a Public Health — Seattle & King County food inspector at about 1:45 p.m. Jan. 25.

The closure was due to the vendor selling chicken and pork tamales out of an ice chest, according to the county.

King County Public Health lists the reasons for closing establishments on the county website. Other violations forcing closure include food code violations, failure to follow the permitting process, a COVID-19 outbreak, or COVID-19 Safe Start guideline violations.
