Auburn should show the plans for Sunbreak Café lot

The land swap article of June 25 notes a proposal to exchange the parking lot used by Sunbreak Café patrons. The article includes comments leading one to believe the public planning processes are in the early stages and that no decisions have been made regarding parking changes. No one can deny, however, that decisions already have been made to the detriment of the city’s central business core.

The city’s economic director is quoted to have said: “The Sunbreak patrons … are willing to walk a block to get there.”

I find such a statement to be arrogant and an opinion best not expressed. This observer believes such a statement reflects ignorance and a disrespect for the café owner.

I urge the public to demand total, complete city development plans. The piecemeal decisions and plans already implemented should be viewed as unacceptable.
