Higher taxes shouldn’t be the fix to our road, bridge woes

Why is Auburn and other government entities in Washington state maintain that the only answer to everything is to raise taxes to every problem?

Why when I travel to a low state tax states like Florida the roads and bridges are beautiful?

I agree with City Council member Largo Whale’s statement: “I just don’t believe this is not the best way to collect needed revenue.” (“Road to ruin or lower taxes? City Council opposes I-976,” Auburn Reporter, Oct. 11). I do have a problem with her statement that Tim Eyman’s methods are unethical.

What I find unethical is my vehicle being assessed more than its worth. What I find unethical is having to spend over $400 a year to ride my motorcycle a few weekends, three months out of the year. What I find unethical is showing a (TV ad) of a bridge collapse – 2013 truck collision that caused a section of the Skagit River Bridge on I-5 to fall – because of maintenance the state cannot afford.

What I find unethical is a State Patrol women in full uniform endorsing a political ad. What I find unethical is buying a hybrid Highlander that doesn’t plug in charged $70 more when it gets 30 miles per gallon.

Stop drinking the Kool-Aid and vote yes on I-976.
