I got my car tab renewal notice with the Department of Licensing, including the new transit authority tax. It wasn’t really that bad. Even with the two identical vehicles that I own, the combined increase is less than half of one-hour’s pay.

I guess that’s why I drive really old, beat-up cars and do most of the maintenance myself.

Cost of sales tax on a really nice, loaded new truck: $7,000, rough guestimate of annual tabs $600; driving two 18-year-old Ford Escorts just to deprive our greedy King County of this money: priceless.
