Auburn Symphony Orchestra presents Family Concert in the Garden

Auburn Symphony Orchestra presents Family Concert in the Garden, a live summer concert for the whole family at Soos Creek Botanical Garden and Heritage Center at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 29.

A chamber concert like this is a relaxed way to enjoy, or discover, what classical music has to offer. A string quartet of ASO musicians will perform a variety of music the whole family will enjoy.

The musicians performing are Emilie Choi, violin; Ingrid Fredrickson, violin; Betty Agent, viola; and Brian Wharton, cello.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the outdoor setting. The garden opens at 1 p.m. before the concert.

Soos Creek Botanical Garden and Heritage Center is located on the east hill in Auburn. This beautiful 22-acre facility features flower gardens, woodland areas, a vegetable demonstration garden, an aviary, and much more. You will find a variety of gardens inspired by international, regional, and historical gardens, as well as education and conservation information about horticulture, the environment, and history.

In addition to a summer concert, ASO offers a summer video for children. In the final episode of Art Inspires Art: The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, Concertmaster Emilie Choi shows us what’s happening in Antonio Vivaldi’s Summer – storms, birds, and flying hornets!

Teaching artist Monica Tolas then demonstrates step-by-step a summer themed art project. All four seasonal videos are now available for free. Auburn Symphony Orchestra produced this series in partnership with Interurban Center for the Arts. The videos are designed for children in pre-k and elementary school. Since they make use of materials commonly found at home, the projects are accessible to almost every child.

Videos are free at www.auburnsymphony.org/learnfromhome.
