4Culture call for South Sound artists and Muckleshoot Tribal members

4Culture, the cultural funding agency for King County, is looking for artists to help create site-specific or site-integrated artwork for the new South County Recycling and Transfer Station located in Algona.

The deadline is 4 p.m. Monday, March 16.

King County Solid Waste Division (SWD) is building a new station to replace the current Algona Transfer Station on West Valley Highway. The project will involve the removal of existing habitat and the addition of new plantings. This is an opportunity for an artist to play a role in the goal of incorporating this new station into the existing landscape and presents an opportunity of the use of reclaimed materials from the site.

The site is proximal to the Muckleshoot Tribal Reservation. Artists with cultural connections to the Muckleshoot Tribe and those who identify as indigenous or underrepresented as well as artists who have an interest or history in education or mentorship of emerging artists are strongly encouraged to apply.
