The City of Algona is preparing for its Kids Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, May 31.

A portable fishing pond will be set up in Matchett Park, 402 Warde St. The pond, from Troutlodge in Sumner, will be stocked with trout.

Organizers will provide poles and bait. The event is free to kids 13 and under.

Reservation tickets can be picked up at Algona City Hall, beginning May 19.

The Auburn Save Our Fish Chapter of the Puget Sound Anglers and Auburn Sports and Marine are sponsoring this event.
