An early Tuesday morning apartment fire in the 3700 block of D Place Southeast in Auburn displaced five people, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.

One man was evaluated for smoke inhalation following the fire, which was called in to 911 just after 3 a.m.

Firefighters limited the fire to one unit, the upper right apartment of a four-plex building. The unit below received water damage and the adjoining upper unit had light smoke damage.

The VRFA received help from Kent Fire RFA, South King Fire & Rescue and King County Medic One.

The American Red Cross is helping five people find temporary housing.

The fire is under investigation.
