For a fourth consecutive weekend, extra patrols will be out to catch speeders in King County through The Slow Down or Pay Up campaign.

Developed by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and local law enforcement, including the Auburn Police Department, the program is the first statewide enforcement campaign to catch speeders in Washington. From 2004 to 2008, speeding was a critical factor in 40 percent of all traffic fatalities in our state.

Slow Down or Pay Up is a key component of the Strategic Highway Safety Plan — Target Zero. The vision of Target Zero is zero deaths and serious injuries from traffic crashes in Washington by the year 2030.
