King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer recently announced $125,000 in funding for the Auburn High School Pre-Apprenticeship Program, ensuring this program will continue serving students throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.
The councilmember, who represents the Federal Way and Auburn areas, toured the pre-apprenticeship program and met with students and teachers Sept. 24. Von Reichbauer invited King County Budget Chair Girmay Zahilay to attend the presentation because of his support of this appropriation. With this $125,000 investment, the total amount Councilmember von Reichbauer has secured for pre-apprenticeship programs in the Auburn School District rises to $375,000.
After touring the program with Superintendent Alan Spicciati, von Reichbauer said: “Whether they are considering a blue-collar or a white-collar path, students in the Auburn School District should have every opportunity available to help them succeed after high school. The pre-apprenticeship program creates additional opportunities for students to access high-paying jobs and I am pleased that it has grown in recent years.”
