Auburn man dies in crash; driver still at large

A 22-year-old Auburn man died about 4 a.m. Tuesday when the 1990 Nissan Stanza he was riding in left the road and struck a tree in unincorporated King County south of Highway 18 and west of the Supermall.

The male driver fled on foot and as of Thursday morning still had not been found.

“He is still out there somewhere,” said Sgt. John Urquhart.

According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, the dead man was the only passenger in the car then southbound on 46th Ave S. when it went through the stop sign at a “T” intersection at Southwest 352nd and struck a tree. The man died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

The incident is under investigation.
