MultiCare Health System completed the purchase of the Auburn Regional Medical Center hospital facility today. The South King County hospital has been renamed MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

MultiCare Auburn Medical Center is now part of MultiCare’s integrated not-for-profit health care system, which includes Tacoma General Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center, Allenmore Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital and numerous outpatient clinics and specialty centers.

MultiCare announced last spring that it would acquire the Auburn Regional Medical Center hospital and clinic assets from Auburn Regional Medical Center , Inc. and its parent corporation, Universal Health Services, a corporation based in King of Prussia, Pa.

MultiCare Auburn Medical Center is a 195-bed hospital with about 750 employees. The hospital has served Auburn and the surrounding communities since 1921.

The hospital will be led by Chief Operating Officer David Nicewonger, who has served as the administrator of the MultiCare Regional Cancer Center for the last eight years. Dr. Chad Krilich will serve as the Medical Director of MultiCare Auburn Medical Center. Dr. Krilich served as the Regional Medical Director for MultiCare Medical Associates since 2010.

In South King County, MultiCare operates a network of Primary Care, Specialty Care and Urgent Care clinics in Auburn, Kent, Covington and Maple Valley, as well as the new Emergency Department that opened in April at the MultiCare Covington Medical Center. MultiCare also has plans to build a hospital in Covington.
