Auburn Reporter photographer Rachel Ciampi earned three awards, two for first place, in the Washington Newspapers Publishers Association Better Newspaper Contest.

Winners were announced at the recent WNPA convention in Wenatchee.

Ciampi took first place for “Dog Day,” a color portrait at the Petpalooza festival and for “Court battle,” a color sports action shot of the Emerald Downs 3-on-3 basketball tournament. She took second for “Heads Up,” a color sports action shot of the Auburn Riverside High School soccer match.

Sportswriter Chris Chancellor earned a first place for his feature on Auburn Riverside basketball star McKenzi Williams and how she played in honor of her late father.
