City crews were busy busting up the worn surface areas of the West Valley Highway and laying the foundation for the patchwork.

The arterial and collector pavement preservation project began this week on the West Valley Highway from 29th Street Northwest to South 287th Street. Weather-dependent construction is expected to last approximately two weeks.

Northbound lane closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Southbound lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic delays should be anticipated. Access to local business will be maintained during the construction.

The project will perform pavement patching on the street to repair damaged pavement.
