Bowman Creek Elementary in Auburn to open in September

Construction continues on district’s 15th elementary school

Construction continues in Auburn on the new Bowman Creek Elementary School scheduled to open in September.

Auburn School District Superintendent Alan Spicciati and Associate Superintendent Cynthia Blansfield recently toured the new school at 5701 Kersey Way SE.

The $46.7 million school will feature 38 classrooms with a capacity of 650 students over 74,413 square feet. It will be the district’s 15th elementary school.

The district’s board of directors selected the name of the school in January. Bowman Creek flows from Bowman Lake and empties into the White River at the bottom of Kersey Way Southeast. The other finalist names included Forest Ridge, Harriet Tubman and Kersey Heights.

Voters in 2016 approved a $456 million levy to rebuild five elementary schools and a middle school and construct two new elementary schools.
