Catalytic converter theft ended in shooting in Auburn

Auburn police are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter that ended in a shooting around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 20.

The incident began at the Haggen grocery store on Lake Tapps Parkway East when someone witnessed two men stealing a catalytic converter from a car. The suspects fled the scene and drove south, and the witness followed behind.

When the suspects and witness were driving past the Four Lakes Apartment complex, the witness saw the suspect fire a gun several times from the moving vehicle. The witness could not tell if the shooter was aiming at him or not. No one was injured.

Police found bullets at the scene and are actively investigating the incident.
