The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 342 calls for service, including the following calls between Nov. 25 and Nov. 28:
Nov. 25
Aid call: 8:11 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to assist an adult male who had accidentally shot a nail into his foot with a nail gun. Firefighters provided initial treatment, and an ambulance transported the man to Valley Medical Center for further care.
Nov. 26
Service call: 10:15 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters helped the Auburn Police Department and King County Sheriff’s Office recover potential evidence. Firefighters set up the ladder truck aerial to provide the reach necessary for law enforcement to retrieve the item.
Nov. 27
Elevator rescue: 5:35 p.m. (South Auburn). Firefighters responded to a report of individuals stuck in an elevator. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that the occupants were uninjured. They secured the area and remained on scene until an elevator technician arrived to mechanically move the elevator, allowing the occupants to safely exit.
Nov. 28
Accident: 11:45 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a three-car collision on Highway 167. Upon arrival, firefighters found two vehicles on the left side of the road and a third in the median with moderate damage. One female patient, who suffered moderate injuries, was evaluated by firefighters and a VRFA aid unit transported her MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.
Nov. 29
Residential fire: 10:17 a.m. (Algona). Firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a residence. While en route, the reporting party requested cancellation, stating they had extinguished the fire. One crew continued to the scene and determined the fire started when an ember fell from a wood stove onto paper on the floor. Crews confirmed the fire was completely out, and no further hazards were present.
Nov. 30
Vehicle vs. bicyclist: 12:34 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a child who had been struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle, and was thrown approximately 40 feet from the crosswalk. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated the boy on the scene for serious injuries, and paramedics transported him to Harborview Medical Center for further care.
Dec. 1
Accident: (Auburn). At 2:17 p.m. Dec. 1, VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a two-car accident on Auburn Way South. On scene, VRFA personnel assessed three individuals and treated one patient for minor injuries. The patient was transported to a local hospital by private ambulance.
Residential fire: 10:57 a.m. (Ravensdale). Firefighters responded to a residential fire alongside Puget Sound Fire Authority. VRFA personnel responded with a tender and one fire engine, where they were assigned to a “water division.” They ensured an uninterrupted water supply to apparatus on scene, as the area has limited fire hydrants and relies on such resources for a safe operation.
