Church invites community to join Halloween event

Come one, come all to Messiah Lutheran Church’s annual Halloween carnival and trunk-or-treating event between 5 and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The event kicks off with potluck dinner in the church’s new gathering space, moves into a carnival for kids up to 12 years old and ends with a chance for young ‘uns to go “truck-or-treating” in the parking lot. Members and friends of the church decorate their trunks and allow kids to go trick or treating

“This is a great event for families,” said Traci Vatne, youth and families director at Messiah Lutheran Church. “It gives our members and friends a way to give back to the community by providing the kids a fun opportunity to take part in carnival games as well as go trick or treating in a safe environment. Last year, we had well over 100 children participate in this fun event as well as another 20 middle and high school youth who ran our carnival games.”

Those families interested in the trunk or treating only should be there at 6:30 p.m. Otherwise, families should plan on being there at 5 p.m. to take part in the festivities. Each participating family is asked to bring an item of food for the Messiah Lutheran Church food bank and an item for the potluck.
