A fatal collision occurred on A Street SE in Auburn, leaving a female dead.
At about 1:15 p.m., June 30, the Auburn Police Department reported that following a two-car collision resulting in a fatality, A Street SE was closed between 15th Street SE and 17th Street SE. According to the department, a female was pronounced dead at the scene.
Auburn Police Department spokesperson Kolby Crossley said that at about 12:21 p.m. the causing driver, a 28-year-old female, while going northbound on A St. SE., failed to stop for a red traffic signal and collided with another vehicle that was turning left onto A St. SE, subsequently killing the driver of the vehicle turning onto A St. SE. Crossley said that the deceased was a 65-year-old female.
“Early investigation leads us to believe that speed played a factor in this collision. The victim, was pronounced dead on scene,” Crossley said. “The causing driver was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Charges will be forwarded once our traffic unit completes the investigation.”
The department stated that the roadway was closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted. According to Crossley, the roadway reopened around 4:50 p.m.
