Between April 7 and April 13, VRFA personnel responded

to a total of 186 calls, among them the following:

APRIL 13

Motorcycle Fire/Aid Call: (Mutual Aid/KCFD District #44). Engine 34 responded with Engine 92 to Pacific Raceways for a motorcycle fire. Engine 34 found there had been a single motorcycle accident with a fire and EMS personnel had put it out. Engine 34 found that the man had been going about 80 mph when he crashed the motorcycle and was spitting up blood and complaining of right rib pain. The patient exam found that the man had rib and lung injuries. Medic 11 transported him to Harborview Medical Center.

APRIL 12

Malicious Fire: 1:39 a.m., (Pacific). VRFA Engine 38, Fire Marshal 33, and the Pacific Police Department responded to a home for a malicious fire. On location, units found a bottle filled with a flammable liquid that had been ignited and thrown at the side of the home. Fire damaged a two-foot-by four-foot area of the siding on the home. There were no injuries. The South King Fire Investigation Task Force and Pacific police are investigating.

APRIL 11

Motor Vehicle Accident: 11:36 p.m. (Lea Hill). VRFA units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 13100 block of S.E. 312th Street. Upon arrival, units found two members in a sedan that had collided head-on with a one-ton pick-up truck pulling a large fifth-wheel trailer. Both occupants of the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the truck had minor scrapes and were sent to ARMC for evaluation. The incident is under investigation by Auburn Police.

APRIL 10

Aid Call: 2:04 p.m., (Auburn Lea Hill). Engine 34 responded to a report of a possible domestic dispute. After police cleared the scene, fire personnel examined a male with cuts on his wrists. The patient was taken to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) via American Medical Response (AMR).

APRIL 9

Car Pedestrian Accident: 4:30 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA units arrived to find a young child who was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Auburn Way South. It was determined the vehicle was traveling at approximately 30 to 40 mph at impact. VRFA firefighters, with the assistance of Medic 6, stabilized the child and determined his injuries to be, miraculously, minor. The patient was transported to Harborview Medical Center by Medic 6 as a precaution.

APRIL 8

Rollover Accident: 9:24 p.m., (Auburn). A citizen told VRFA Firefighters at Fire Station 32 that a truck had just rolled across the street from the station. VRFA crews assisted the driver from the truck, which was found resting on the driver’s side on top of a fence. The male driver was uninjured. A fire hydrant had been broken off and several sections of a chain link fence were destroyed.

APRIL 7

Dumpster Fire: 2 p.m. (Pacific): Engine 38 responded to 117 Frontage Road N. in Pacific for a dumpster fire. Engine 38 arrived to find black smoke form a large commercial dumpster in the parking lot. Battalion 31 and Engine 32 were asked help evacuate the adjoining structure because of drifting smoke. Engine 32 was also used to help with water supply. A master stream and finally foam was used to extinguish the fire. Nobody was hurt.
