Aug. 4

Injury auto accident: 8:32 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA units responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident in the 10400 block of 304th Southeast. When they got there, personnel found that the only occupant of the upside-down vehicle had crawled out. Personnel stabilized the guy, treated him at the scene, and an ambulance transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

Aug. 5

Vehicle fire: 8:30 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). VRFA units responded to a report of a car fire. On arrival, firefighters found a fully involved passenger vehicle over a 100-foot embankment in an undeveloped residential area behind the Top Foods store in Lakeland. Firefighters from the VRFA and East Pierce Fire & Rescue were able to contain the fire to the area of origin, despite significant wildland fire exposures.

Aug. 6

Aid call: 11:45 a.m., (Auburn). Engine 32 arrived at the ACAP daycare to find a pre-school boy with a golf ball-sized bump on his forehead. The boy had been running on the playground when he ran into another child. He did not lose consciousness, but caregivers said he was acting lethargically. Personnel used ice packs to shrink the owie and the boy was sent to ARMC to be checked for a concussion.

Aug. 7

Propane leak: 3:26 p.m., (Auburn). Engine 31 responded to a reported propane leak in the 1300 block of Auburn Way North. Engine 31 arrived and found a small 16 oz. camp stove canister leaking from the valve. The cylinder’s contents were bled off to eliminate the problem.

Aug. 8

Vehicle recovery: 1:30 p.m., (Kent) The Zone 3 dive rescue team responded to a vehicle recovery in the Green River at the request of the Kent Fire Duty Battalion Chief. VRFA water rescue personnel and Renton Fire personnel coordinated the recovery.

Aug. 9

Aid call: 7:40 p.m., (Auburn). Aid 31 responded to a report of a lethargic man. The patient’s family said he had been clearing brush and did not come home on time. The family started to look for him and found him in a field, slumped across the seat of a tractor. His eyes were open but he wasn’t responding. The aid crew checked him for injuries, found none, and an ambulance took him away to ARMC for further evaluation.

Aug. 10

CPR: 11:25 p.m., (Pacific). Engine 38 and Aid 32 responded to an unconscious, unresponsive man who suddenly had collapsed. The person who made the call already had started CPR and Engine 38 kept that going and helped King County Medic One personnel. The man was stabilized and transported by Medic One to St. Francis Hospital.
