Firefighters responded to a drug overdose at Auburn Riverside High School | Fire blotter

Between Nov. 2 and Nov. 7, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 300 calls for service, among them the following.

Nov. 2

Aid call: 3:30 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to a senior who was complaining of shortness of breath. They immediately called for King County paramedics to help the guy, who was having a heart attack. Paramedics transported the man with the help of a firefighter to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further care.

Aid call: 10:52 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to a drug overdose at Auburn Riverside High School, where they treated a boy before a private ambulance transported to MAMC’s emergency room.

Nov. 3

Wires down: 4:03 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters dispatched to reports of a blown transformer and possible electrical wires down found an inoperable transformer but all power lines seemingly intact. A nearby resident confirmed that her townhome was without power. The affected pole number was relayed to Puget Sound Energy.

Nov. 4

Car vs. garage: 7:10 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and Auburn police responded to a report of a car into a garage. They found a car through a residential fence and the woman who had driven the car complaining of ankle pain. A VRFA aid unit transported her to MAMC’s emergency room.

Accident: 8:35 p.m., (Auburn). Valley Regional Fire Authority, South King Fire and Rescue and King County paramedics responded to a single vehicle that had crashed into the jersey barrier on northbound SR 167. They found a heavily damaged vehicle and one man trapped inside with significant injuries, mainly from not wearing a seatbelt. Firefighters and paramedics extricated, packaged and treated the man before a private ambulance transported him to Harborview Medical Center.

Nov. 5

River rescue: 3:30 p.m., (White River). Firefighters and rescue technicians responding to a report of a woman jumping from a bridge into the White River found her floating downstream. Rescuers in an inflatable kayak and a raft searched the river and found her, and firefighters helped get her out of the water. Medics treated and transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center.

Nov. 6

Accident: 7:37 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a single-car accident in the parking lot of an apartment complex. They found that the driver had had a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of the vehicle. Firefighters evaluated the driver and passenger, who were complaining of multiple injuries. An ambulance transported both people to MAMC for continued care.

Nov. 7

Commercial fire: 9:32 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a three-alarm fire in an apartment building evacuated the building and battled the fire with help from neighboring jurisdictions. The fire caused extensive damage to the structure and is under investigation.
