Former school nurse charged with child rape jailed again for threatening to carry out mass shooting

Auburn man recently charged with child rape, sexual misconduct for alleged relations with three Todd Beamer High School students

A former Federal Way Public Schools nurse charged with child rape and sexual misconduct involving three Todd Beamer High School students is back in jail after he had work done on his semi-automatic rifle and threatened to carry out a mass shooting after he bonded out of jail.

Auburn resident Mark David Glenn, 51, was charged with third-degree child rape, second-degree sexual misconduct with a minor and communication with a minor for immoral purposes on Jan. 8 in King County Superior Court. He pleaded not guilty on Jan. 23.

A King County Superior Court judge found on Feb. 28 Glenn violated a condition of release by failing to surrender all his weapons and committing a crime of harassment, according to charging documents.

Glenn surrendered only his concealed pistol license and swore under penalty of perjury that he had no additional firearms. However, according to the Department of Licensing, Glenn purchased two pistols in 2018 and a pistol in 2017; there are no corresponding transfers by Glenn to someone else, the documents state.

Federal Way police received an anonymous tip on Feb. 28 that Glenn had recently visited a Bellevue gun shop to have work done on part of an AR-style rifle. Glenn allegedly used to work in the gun range at Wade’s Eastside Guns.

The anonymous caller said Glenn still had access to multiple firearms, which he did not turn in under court order and said Glenn previously purchased multiple firearms through citizen-to-citizen purchase before the change in law, thus meaning these firearms were not registered. Glenn also has an AK-style pistol he converted into a short barrel rifle that is not registered with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the documents continue.

During his visit to the gun shop on Feb. 27, Glenn allegedly spoke about his criminal charges related to Todd Beamer High School and claimed he was innocent.

In the conversation, Glenn allegedly said he “was fed up” and is “feeling like a poked bear,” and was “going to start killing people,” according to Federal Way police investigation documents.

When the anonymous source questioned Glenn during the conversation, he said Glenn did not specifically mention that he was going to target the high school, any of the victims or law enforcement, although Glenn allegedly mentioned he was “going to indiscriminately shoot people because nobody was innocent,” the documents state.

Glenn was booked at the Kent Regional Justice Center on Feb. 29. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail at King County Jail.

In October 2019, the district was made aware of Glenn’s alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student that began the prior spring, during which time the girl claims Glenn raped her in his car. Two additional students also claim Glenn made inappropriate comments about their bodies and allegedly touched them in a sexual manner when he was a nurse at Todd Beamer High School.

He was employed as a nurse with Federal Way Public Schools from December 2018 through September 2019. Glenn was employed by Career Staff Unlimited, a third-party employment agency that contracts health care professionals with schools, according to charging documents.

During his employment at Federal Way Public Schools, Glenn worked at 20 schools throughout the district, including a multitude of elementary, middle and all four of the district’s high schools.

The list of schools includes 10 elementary schools: Camelot, Enterprise, Green Gables, Lake Dolloff, Lake Grove, Meredith Hill, Mark Twain, Sunnycrest, Twin Lakes, Valhalla, Wildwood elementary schools. The list also includes three middle schools – Illahee, Lakota and Sequoyah – and the district’s four high schools: Federal Way, Thomas Jefferson, Todd Beamer and Decatur. In addition, Glenn was also a nurse at STEM/STEAM schools Nautilus K-8 and TAF@Saghalie.

Glenn’s credentials as a licensed practical nurse expired on Nov. 9, 2019, according to the Washington State Department of Health.
