Head-on collision in Auburn sends five people to Harborview

Four were injured in the crash on state Route 167.

Four people were injured in a car crash on State Route 167 in Auburn after a man suspected of DUI swerved into oncoming traffic, causing a head-on collision, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9. The man suspected of DUI was driving a white Toyota Corolla traveling north on State Route 167 near 15th Street Southwest when his car drifted over the median into the southbound lane, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Corolla then struck the front of a black Chevy Avalanche that was traveling southbound on State Route 167, according to the Washington State Patrol.

There were four people in the Avalanche at the time of the collision ranging in ages from three to 42 years old, according to the Washington State Patrol.

All parties were transported to Harborview Medical Center. The three-year-old did not did not sustain any injuries, but was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The driver of the Corolla was charged with vehicular assault and DUI, according to the Washington State Patrol.

All drivers and passengers were wearing their seat belts and there were no fatalities, according to the Washington State Patrol.
