A woman was crossing Auburn Way North just North of 45th Street at 7:55 a.m. Thursday morning when she was struck by a Kent School District bus, according to Auburn Police.

King County Medics transported the victim, age and name not disclosed, to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition, which has since been upgraded to stable.

“As for what happened, it’s still under investigation, but it looks like the person walked out in traffic when they shouldn’t have,” Kolby Crossley, public information officer for the Auburn Police Department, said Thursday afternoon.

There were no students on the bus at the time.

The Kent School District said only that the incident is under investigation, and it had no further information.

The subsequent traffic investigation closed the street in that area for hours.

The Valley Regional Fire Authority and King County Medics responded to the scene.
