Between May 5 and May 11, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service, among many others.
May 5
Tree fire: 2:48 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to trees on fire near a house quickly contained the fire to the trees, preventing it from spreading to a nearby structure.
May 6
Car vs. pedestrian: 9:17 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a woman who had been struck by a vehicle as she was crossing a road. They evaluated and treated her on the scene before a private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
May 7
Residential fire: 10:16 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to multiple reports of smoke and flames at a home arrived to learn the fire had started at a fence and spread to the home’s exterior wall, with concern for possible roof and attic involvement. Firefighters extinguished the exterior fire and confirmed it had not extended into the interior or attic. Once the fire was fully extinguished and the structure was deemed safe, firefighters returned the residence to the homeowner.
May 8
Aid call: 8:50 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to reports of a woman injured during a domestic dispute. Firefighters assessed the injured party on scene and determined that further evaluation at an emergency department was not necessary. The woman remained on the scene under her own care.
May 9
Water main break: 8:24 a.m. (Algona). Firefighters responded to a water main break. They arrived to find water shooting onto a house from a hole in the main line. Firefighters cleared people from the area around a developing hole in the ground and assisted the City of Algona Public Works Department in shutting off water to the main in two places.
May 10
Accident: 8:12 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and Washington State Patrol responded to a two-car collision on Highway 18, east of Highway 167, where they treated one person for a minor leg injury before a private ambulance transported that person to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.
May 11
Motor vehicle fire: 11:47 a.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to a vehicle fire on Lake Tapps Parkway arrived to find a pickup truck ablaze with heavy fire in the engine compartment and extending into the passenger area. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to the large camper trailer the truck had been towing.
Aid call: 5:01 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to the report of a man who had fallen from a third-story window. Auburn Police were also on the scene, as the incident involved law enforcement. Firefighters stabilized the patient, who was then transported by King County Medic One. During transport, the patient went into cardiac arrest, and paramedics initiated advanced life support measures. The patient was taken to Harborview Medical Center.
