The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service between Jan 27 and Feb. 2.
Jan. 27
Elevator rescue: 1:59 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a stuck elevator at an apartment building found the lift, shut down power, and safely freed the single occupant, who was not hurt. Management then called an elevator technician to restore service.
Industrial accident: 1:30 p.m. (Auburn). A man suffered a traumatic crush injury to his hand as he struggled to free it from a sheet metal forming machine. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated the man before Medic One transported him to Harborview Medical Center.
Jan. 28
Aid call: 8:49 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a woman who had slipped on ice and suffered a lower leg fracture. Firefighters treated the woman before transporting her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
Jan. 29
Accident: 6:11 p.m. (Auburn), Firefighters who treated the driver and passenger of one-of-two vehicles involved in an accident found heavy damage to both vehicles. A private ambulance transported both of them to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Jan. 30
Aid call: 4:48 p.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters evaluated and treated a man who was complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath, and a private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
Jan. 31
MVA: 9:15 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters who responded to the scene of a two-car accident involving one vehicle that had struck an overpass treated a woman for minor injuries before TriMed ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.
Feb. 1
Vehicle fire: 5:05 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a pickup truck on fire arrived to find the engine compartment and cab fully ablaze. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.
Feb. 2
Injury accident: 4:09 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to a vehicle collision involving a trailer. The incident was upgraded to a Zone 3 Technical Rescue. With assistance from South King Fire and Rescue and Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, crews stabilized the scene and extricated a critically-injured, entrapped patient, whom medics treated on scene and transported to Harborview Medical Center.
