The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 181 calls for service between June 3 and June 8, among them the following:

JUNE 3

Trapped in elevator: 9 a.m., (Pacific). Engine 38 was dispatched to a person trapped in an elevator. Puget Sound Energy was in the area performing scheduled maintenance work and had disconnected the power per a pre-arranged schedule. The power shut-down occurred immediately after the person entered the elevator. VRFA crews were able to locate the pressure control valve and bleed off hydraulic pressure, allowing the elevator car to return to the ground floor. The person was uninjured and able to step out of the elevator car under her own power. The elevators were taped off with hazard tape to prevent any persons from entering the area until the power was restored.

JUNE 4

Toilet on fire: 8:13 a.m. (Lea Hill). Engine 34 was dispatched to a port-a-potty fire. VRFA personnel found a port-a-potty completely melted to ground level at a construction site. VRFA personnel took photographs of the fire damage and Auburn Police Department assisted with the investigation.

JUNE 5

Aid Call: 3:28 p.m., (Lea Hill). Engine 34 was dispatched to Green River Community College for an arm laceration. Campus security had secured the scene because of an altercation and called for medical assistance. Eng-34 found a young man that had punched his car window out and had been fighting with his girlfriend. The patient, with multiple lacerations to his hand and arm, had controlled his own bleeding prior to Eng-34 arrival. Eng-34 bandaged the wounds and turned the scene over to campus security. No transport was needed.

JUNE 6

Commercial Fire: (Pacific). VRFA units were dispatched to a commercial fire on Stewart Road. On location, Engine 38 discovered a semi-trailer fire inside a metal clad metal frame building. The fire had been put out by a portable extinguisher. Personnel determined the cause was a pinched 12-volt electrical cable that had caused a dead short of a high amperage battery bank that was feeding a lift gate. No further action was required. The manager said there was zero dollar loss.

JUNE 7

Chest Pain: 4:30 p.m.,

(Auburn). Aid 32 arrived to find a woman experiencing chest pain. Personnel determined the woman had a cardiac history and normally took nitroglycerin for her chest pain but had run out and needed a prescription refilled.. Aid 32 and King County Medic 6 treated the patient and transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

JUNE 8
