Random assault

Auburn police dispatched to report of an assault March 1 in the 800 block of Auburn Way North.

According to a news release from the Auburn Police Department, an unidentified suspect assaulted an “unsuspecting” customer as he walked into a local retailer at approximately 7 p.m.

The reporting party said a man unknown to him punched him in the jaw as he walked into a store, according to an email from Kolby Crossley, public information officer for the Auburn Police Department.

Crossley’s email describes the suspect as a Black man, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and in his 30s.

Investigation continues and no arrests have been made.

Domestic violence arrest

Auburn police arrested a man March 1 for multiple domestic violence related crimes in the 4700 block of Auburn Way North.

Law enforcement charged the man with five misdemeanor charges, including two counts of assault in the fourth degree and three counts of exposing a minor child to domestic violence.

Law enforcement forwarded the case to Auburn city prosecutor’s office, according to Crossley’s email.

Felony harassment

Auburn police arrested a woman March 1 for domestic violence threats in the 100 block of South Division Street.

Law enforcement charged the woman with felony harassment, with two knives taken in as evidence by the Auburn Police Department. Investigation continues.

Man found dead

Auburn police found a man deceased March 1 after responding as a welfare check in the 31700 block of 124th Avenue Southeast at approximately 10:50 p.m.

According to Crossley’s email, law enforcement found 34-year-old Aidrus Mohamud “hunched over in [a] vehicle.”

Police transferred Mohamud’s body to the King County Medical Examiner’s office to determine his as-of-yet unknown cause of death. Investigation continues.
