From the Valley Regional Fire Authority

Between Sept. 29 and Oct. 5, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service, among many others.

Sept. 29

Aid call: 12:51 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters treated a woman who had slipped in her flooded apartment, sustaining multiple injuries. The water had reportedly been leaking since the previous Friday, leaving standing water in the home. Firefighters treated the woman on scene and then transferred her to Tri-Med for transport to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center. After patient care was complete, crews shut off the building’s water supply and notified the management company and residents.

Sept. 30

Aid call: 10:51 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man who had asked for help. Firefighters treated the man on scene, and determined he needed additional medical evaluation. A private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further treatment.

Oct. 1

Aid call: 2:35 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters helped a senior citizen who had fallen from his wheelchair after accidentally going over a curb. The man explained he was hurrying from the bus station to the post office before it closed. After confirming he was not hurt, firefighters pushed his wheelchair the rest of the way and made sure he arrived safely and on time.

Oct. 2

Collision: 3:54 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated three injured people who had been involved in a a two-vehicle collision. A private ambulance transported two to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, and firefighters transported the third.

Oct. 3

Fire: 12:47 p.m. Firefighters responding to reports of smoke coming from a residence gained access to the home, where they extinguished a small stovetop fire, ventilated the property, rescued a dog, and found two cats who were unharmed. No one was hurt.

Oct. 4

Mutual aid airlift: 4:09 p.m. (District 44). Firefighters responded to Station 96 to set up a landing zone for Airlift Northwest. District 44 firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics were on scene treating a female who had fallen from a horse and fractured her femur. Airlift Northwest transported her to Harborview Medical Center for further care.

Oct. 5

Aid call: 12:20 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man in his 20s who had accidentally shot himself in both legs, and transported him to Harborview Medical Center for continued care.
