Shooting kills male at Copper Gate Apartments

Just before 9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, Auburn Police officers responded to a reported shooting at the Copper Gate Apartment Complex in the 4700 block of Auburn Way North, and found a man down in the parking lot with at least one gunshot wound.

Officers tried to save the man’s life, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Auburn Police Department. The APD said the man was in his 20s or 30s. The victim’s name was unavailable as of press time.

Auburn Police said they believe there is no threat to the community because the two parties involved probably knew each other.

“We have a positive ID on one suspect but are working to get an ID on another suspect who might be involved,” said Kolby Crossley, public information officer for the Auburn Police Department.
