‘Soap for Hope’ to assist Auburn Food Bank

AAA Washington is kicking off its new “Soap for Hope” donation drive to collect toiletry items and distribute them to persons in need via local shelters, food banks and other charitable organizations.

Donations may be dropped off at the AAA Renton office located at 3900 E. Valley Hwy., Suite 105, starting today. Donations made at the Renton office will benefit the Auburn Food Bank.

The Soap for Hope campaign especially encourages travelers that end up with a collection of unused sample-sized shampoos, conditioners, lotions and soaps to bring them to their local AAA office for distribution to those in need of such items.

“Our Soap for Hope toiletries donation drive will help local charities with the growing requests they are receiving for everyday items due to the current economy,” said Linda Allen, manager AAA Renton office. “All of our offices have full-service leisure travel agencies, so encouraging travelers to donate the extra little bottles of shampoo and conditioner they have that remain unused is one way we can give back to our community.”

Toiletry items, such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, and deodorant will be accepted at all AAA locations, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Unopened, travel- and full-size items will be accepted.
