June 23

Odor investigation: 10:17 a.m., (Pacific). Engine 34 responded to a report of an odor and contacted the homeowner, who reported that a solvent smell had permeated his domicile and he couldn’t locate the source of the stink. VRFA personnel entered the house in full gear and used a 4-gas meter to evaluate the residence, but found no unusual readings. VRFA personnel and the owner then went through the home and found one possible source, a new type of glue that the owner was using to glue jewels onto dancing clothes. No other sources were identified.

June 24

Assault: 11 p.m., (Auburn). Engine 32 and Aid 32 responded to a female who had sustained a cut on the hand during a domestic dispute. VRFA firefighters found a woman with an obvious wound to her right hand. Personnel placed her in the back an aid unit and took her to a safer location two blocks down the road. The woman said she had tried to grab a sword out of her mother-in-laws’ hand. Firefighters applied bandages and used bleeding control methods to staunch the flow and an ambulance took her away to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

June 25

Aid call: 8:45 p.m., (Lea Hill). Engine 34 responded to a reported bleeding emergency and found a 43-year-old man with uncontrolled bleeding from his foot. VRFA personnel applied a pressure dressing to stop the bleeding and an ambulance took him away to ARMC.

June 26

Motor vehicle accident: 5:51 p.m., (Auburn). Engine 31 and Aid 31 responded to a 5-car accident with injuries. On arrival, Engine 31 and Aid 31 found a 3-car accident, whereupon they treated one patient and an ambulance took him to ARMC.

June 27

Brush fire: 5:45 p.m., (Auburn). Engine 32 responded to a brush fire in a semi-wooded area directly behind the Muckleshoot fireworks stands. According to one of the security agents on location, witnesses spied some juveniles in the area lighting off fireworks. Engine 32 found a small brush fire, about 50 feet in diameter and crew members used a line off of the engine to snuff the fire.

June 28

Motor vehicle accident: 11:20 a.m., (Auburn). Engine 38 and Aid 31 responded to a motor vehicle accident on eastbound Highway 18 at C Street Southwest. Aid 31 found five vehicles, two with severe damage, and multiple patients, three of whom they treated. Personnel stabilized the vehicles and minimized the spread of all leaking automotive oil and anti-freeze with absorbent.

June 29

Brush fire with exposure: 9:40 a.m., (Algona). VRFA units responded to a brush fire with exposure in the 200 block of 11th Avenue North in Algona. Arriving units found a large pile of tree branches that had caught fire and spread to a wood fence. Bystanders had used a garden hose and knocked the fire down. Engine 38 personnel overhauled the pile.
