A sampling of 188 calls April 20-26

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 188 calls for service between April 20-26, among them the following:

April 20

Vehicle fire: (Auburn) 7:30 a.m. Firefighters responded to a car fire near a hotel. On arrival the engine compartment was fully involved in fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire. The car was unoccupied. Auburn police were called out to investigate.

April 21

Gunshot wound: (Auburn) 10:10 p.m. Firefighters responded to a teenage patient who had suffered a gunshot wound. The patient was evaluated by firefighters and King County Medic One. He was then transported to Harborview Medical Center by Medic 6.

April 22

Aid call: (South Auburn) 3:45 p.m. Firefighters and King County paramedics responded to a woman ready to have a baby. She was quickly evaluated and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by VRFA personnel.

April 23

Motor vehicle accident: (Auburn) 8:13 p.m. Firefighters responded to a one car rollover accident. The car rolled over off the road into the bushes, but the driver was uninjured. Crews broke the window out and extricated the uninjured driver. Driver refused transport to hospital and was picked up from scene by family.

Vehicle into river: (Tukwila) 6:33 p.m. Station 33 technical rescue divers responded to Tukwila with multiple Zone 3 departments for an occupied vehicle into the Green River. VRFA and Renton divers were able to gain access into the vehicle for a search and finding it unoccupied. The searched around the vehicle and further downstream found nothing. Unable to locate the occupant, the search was called off due to darkness.

April 24

Aid call: (Auburn) 4:13 p.m. Firefighters assisted an elderly man that had passed out at a gas station. Firefighters assessed the patient then transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further treatment.

April 25

Aid call: (Pacific) 2:54 p.m. Firefighters responded to a man that was burned when a burn barrel flashed. The patient was treated and then taken to Harborview Medical Center by King County Medic 6.

April 26

Water call: (Lakeland Hills) 5:54 p.m. Firefighters responded to a vehicle in a pond. The driver had lost control of the vehicle. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and sustained no injuries. The dive team assisted the tow company with extracting the vehicle from the pond.
